Mullineux

Swartland

Andrea and Chris Mullineux produce hand-crafted wines from Chenin and Rhône varieties planted in the Granite, Schist, Quartz, and Iron-rich soils of the Swartland, as well as the Leeu Passant wines from mostly old vineyards in other regions, where the focus is on Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault (from the oldest registered red wine vineyards in South Africa) and Cabernet Franc.

Their winemaking philosophy is to never compromise on quality, and to pay the highest possible attention to detail in everything they do. In the vineyards they follow sustainable, reasoned farming practices. Their winemaking is natural, with nothing removed from or added to our wines except minimal amounts of sulphur. They do not make use of any yeasts, acids, tannins, enzymes or fining and filtering agents. The resulting wines are characterised by elegance, balance, freshness and beautiful pure fruit flavours.

Since the launch of the Mullineux Winery in 2007, Chris and Andrea have notched up 38 five-star wine ratings from Platter's South African Wine Guide, the most influential wine guide in the country. Mullineux was named Platter’s South African “Winery of the Year” in 2014 and again in 2016 and 2019 and 2020. Wine Enthusiast named Andrea Mullineux its 2016 Wine Star "International Winemaker of the Year”.
